Clean is green. Clean is beautiful. On Earth Day we like to celebrate a clean and beautiful Park!

The Central Park Conservancy has long focused on collecting refuse and recyclables from the Park, and this year we made those efforts more beautiful. Through a grant from the Alcoa Foundation we were able to work with Landor Associates to make these beautiful (seriously, they are) trash and recycling bins. The video above shows how Landor Associates was inspired by our iconic benches, which were designed by Robert Moses and ironmonger Kevin Lynch for the 1939 New York World’s Fair

So the next time you’re in the Park, take a look at our beautiful trash bins, and please remember to “pitch in” by utilizing them! Happy Earth Day!
